The Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SSARE) program has released the 2021 Call for Proposals for Graduate Student Grants. Southern SARE Graduate Student Grants are open to Master’s and PhD students, enrolled at accredited institutions across the Southern region, who are interested in exploring areas of sustainable agriculture through quantitative and qualitative research projects.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH
Development of Medical Countermeasures for Biothreat Agents, Antimicrobial Resistant Infections and Emerging Infectious Diseases The goal of DMID Omnibus BAA is to advance vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics which could be deployed against biodefense and/or emerging pathogens to protect human health and well-being. In particular, supporting these vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics through early clinical development and manufacturing reduces risk and enables transition to other funding to support advanced clinical development and large-scale manufacturing. Through this solicitation, NIAID aims to advance research and development of promising new therapeutics, vaccines and diagnostics addressing infections caused by the pathogens specified in each of the three (3) Research Areas.

Announcement of Childcare Costs for Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Supported Individual Fellows As part of our on-going efforts to develop programs which support family-friendly research environments for the NIH-supported workforce, NIH will begin providing an option for NRSA fellows to request support for childcare costs in new and continuation applications or as administrative supplements to existing awards effective April 8, 2021. Each fellow is eligible to receive $2,500 per budget period for costs for childcare provided by a licensed childcare provider.
Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for NIH Countermeasures Against Chemical Threats (CounterACT) Early-stage Investigator Research Award FOA encourages Early Stage Investigators (ESI) to pursue exploratory/developmental, applied, proof of concept, or high risk-high impact research to discover safe and effective therapeutics to mitigate toxicities resulting from exposures to highly toxic chemicals. The FOA is expected to be published in March 2021 with an expected application due date in July 2021.

Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP)
DURIP is designed to improve the capabilities of accredited United States (U.S.) institutions of higher education to conduct research and to educate scientists and engineers in areas important to national defense, by providing funds for the acquisition of research equipment or instrumentation. For-profit organizations are not eligible for DURIP funding. DURIP is part of the University Research Initiative (URI).

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) announces the opportunity for potential performers to meet with a DSO program manager (PM) to discuss mutual research interests. These meetings will be held virtually in conjunction with the anticipated Discover DSO Day webinar in early summer 2021. To advance these goals, EDA awards grants through the Build to Scale Program for activities designed to develop and support regional innovation initiatives. EDA thereby advances the growth of connected, innovation-centric economies that increase job growth, enable the workforce of tomorrow, enhance global competitiveness, and foster global competitiveness through technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.
The Build to Scale Program invites organizations who are aiding companies in developing the next generation of technologies to apply for funding. These organizations may be operating initiatives to unlock investment capital across a region or sector, operating programs to accelerate company growth, empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs, and/or enabling technology commercialization.
