National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Boosting Innovative GEOINT Research Broad Agency Announcement (NGA BIG-R BAA) (link) – The Boosting Innovative GEOINT-Research Broad Agency Announcement (BIG-R BAA) invites proposers to submit innovative basic and applied research and development concepts that address one or more of the following technical domains: (1) Foundational GEOINT, (2) Advanced Phenomenologies, and (3) Analytic Technologies. It is NGA’s intent to solicit basic and applied research under this BAA. NGA seeks proposals from qualified proposers for path-breaking GEOINT research in areas of potential interest to NGA.
- Awards: The level of funding for individual awards made under this BAA will depend on the quality of the proposals received and the availability of funds.
- Deadline: BAA closes July 31, 2023; amendments to this BAA will announce response dates for individual topic areas.
CDMRP FY20 Combat Readiness-Medical Research Program (CRRP) (link) – The intent of the FY20 CRRP RDTRA is to support research that will accelerate the movement of promising ideas into clinical applications, including healthcare products, technologies, and/or practice guidelines. Research under this award mechanism should represent a rapid advancement or innovative “leap ahead” and have the potential for broadly applicable, cross-cutting advances benefiting military health and medicine as well as the general public.
- Awards: $2,000,000 for 2 years.
- Deadline: Preproposal due Sept. 10, 2020; proposal due Dec. 3, 2020.
NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH (NIH)
NIDDK Catalyst Award (DP1 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (link) – The NIDDK Catalyst Award is designed to complement NIDDK’s traditional, investigator-initiated grant programs by supporting individual scientists who propose pioneering and transformational studies in topic areas of interest to NIDDK’s Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, and to NIDDK’s Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition. Applications should be focused on major scientific challenges, and have the potential to produce an unusually high impact on diseases and conditions that are central to the mission of these two divisions within NIDDK.
- Awards: $500,000 in direct costs per year for up to 5 years.
- Deadline: LOI due Dec. 6, 2020; proposal due Jan. 6, 2021.
Validation Studies of Analytical Methods for Dietary Supplement Constituents (Admin Supp – Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (link) – This FOA builds on existing NIH awards to support the performance and publication of formal single-laboratory validation studies of analytical methods for dietary supplements and other natural products. The method(s) proposed for validation must be used to identify and/or quantify dietary supplement-relevant ingredients or constituents (i.e., active or marker chemical compounds, adulterants, contaminants) or their metabolites in experimental reagents, raw materials, and/or clinical specimens (e.g., urine or plasma samples). The method(s) must already be developed or utilized in fulfillment of the active parent grant’s specific aims. Candidate constituents for method validation studies include (but are not limited to): phytochemicals, nutrients, and potentially deleterious substances such as pesticides and mycotoxins. Multi-laboratory validation studies will not be supported through this FOA.
- Awards: Up to $100,000 for 1 year.
- Deadline: Oct. 15, 2020. Additional dates available in 2021 and 2022.
